Scope
This document describes the potential compatibility issues between these two PCB assemblies and video crosspoint cards within the Series 2 routers.

Background
The revision A 121293-x cards require a video input signal with an amplitude of at least 230 mV. This amplitude is satisfied by all series 2 crosspoint cards with the exception of the standard crosspoint for the 528 and XL routers, the 140023-5288.
In order to satisfy 528 and XL systems that required the use of these cards, a new firmware version, 2.03, was created for the 140023-5288 cards. While it enabled the use of 121293 cards in those systems, it would not in all cases pass 3G-SDI signals, so it was not released as a standard. Manufacturing has been forced to selectively load firmware into these crosspoints when the system they are in includes 121293 cards.
Resolution
The 121293-x Revision B card is now in production. This board is identical to the Revision A card except that equalizing receivers with a threshold of 100 mV were added to its input. The revision B card can now be placed in any system regardless of what crosspoint or firmware revision is there.
Manufacturing Actions
Revision A 121293-x cards still in manufacturing should be used in 144 and 288 systems until they are gone. 528 or XL systems should utilize the Revision B cards.
Service Actions
There are only 3 customers with the combination of Revision A 121293 cards and 528 or XL systems in the field. These are MTV's Nereus truck, Modern Videofilm and LA7 System #2 in Rome. For those customers, the biggest potential service issue is shipping them a replacement crosspoint card. If a 140023-5288 is sent to one of these customers, it must have version 2.03 firmware in order. There is a replacement for this crosspoint assembly in the works, a 121331-1 card. That card is compatible with either revision A or B 121293-1 cards, so a standard board can be shipped without checking the firmware revision.
